Black Bear Hunting With a Classic
My friend Phil Shoemaker, famous Alaskan Grizzly bear guide, sent me some photos of his newest, old Springfield Sporter. Built by Adolph Minar it is chambered for .30-06 I don’t know much about the rifle or Minar (1879-1936) of Fountain, Colorado who stocked a number of rifles for Jack O’Connor. According to Custom Gunmakers of the 20th Century (by Michael Petrov) Minar stocked a total of 36 rifles. He dies at the age of 56. Petrov speaks very highly of Minar’s inletting and Phil has included several photos.
